What is the process for selling used goods at Sell Your PC?

We have tried to simplify the process as much as possible, making selling as easy as 1..2..3. The selling process starts out by requiring you to fill in a form that captures the item and condition that you would like to sell, before you will get an instant offer.

Should you accept the offer, you will ship (or deliver) the item to our offices accompanied by documentation we require under the Second Hands Goods Act 6 of 2009 . Upon receiving your item, we will assess it. If everything is as described we will request some supporting documentation (if not already provided).

Once the documention is in order your payment will be processed instantaniously.

Watch our cool summary video on our home page for more.

Our process for selling used goods is as straightforward as ABC. We've streamlined it to three simple steps, starting with you completing a form that captures the details and condition of the item you wish to sell. Following this, you'll typically receive an offer within 24 hours.

If you accept our offer, you'll need to courier or deliver the item to our offices, accompanied by the necessary documentation as mandated by the Second-Hand Goods Act 6 of 2009. We do also assist with arranging courier if you are not able to deliver the items yourself. Upon receipt of your item, we'll conduct an assessment. If all is in order and matches the provided description, we might ask for some supporting documentation (if it wasn't previously provided).

We'll process your payment without delay once all the paperwork is squared away. To get a more comprehensive understanding, watch our succinct summary video on our selling page.

What sort of information will I need to provide when selling something?

Our primary goal is to enhance safety in the second-hand goods marketplace. To achieve this, and to comply with the Second-Hand Goods Act (No. 6 of 2009) and other relevant regulations, we are obliged to gather the same information that traditional brick-and-mortar stores, like Cash Crusaders or Cash Converters, require.

By law, we need the following information to complete a transaction:

  • Proof of residence (dated within the last three months)

  • Verified copy of ID (you only need to submit this once)

  • Confirmation of banking details

Rest assured, this information will only be requested from clients who are selling items to us, and only once the sale has been agreed upon and is nearing completion. All information will be securely encrypted and not shared with any third party for any reason whatsoever.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this, please don't hesitate to contact us - I have a question.

Can I trust Sell Your PC with my personal information?

Absolutely. We take your data privacy very seriously and make it a top priority to ensure your information is always secure. We don't share any data with third parties, and the information we collect is strictly on a need-to-know basis, utilised solely for the purpose described.

We strictly adhere to the stipulations of the Protection of Personal Information Act (PoPi Act), taking every reasonable measure to secure all data in our custody and to comply with local regulations and legislation.

For a more in-depth understanding of our data handling practices, we invite you to read our Cookie and Privacy Policy.

Will my data be used or passed on to any third parties?

At Sell Your PC, your privacy is sacrosanct. We will NEVER share your personal data with any third party. Period.

Your information will only be utilised for the express purpose of completing the sale, transferring payment, and ensuring regulatory compliance. How will I receive my payment when I sell my items to Sell Your PC?

Upon the completion of the sales process and the acceptance of your item(s), we will process the payment to your bank account. All payments are made via an Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), ensuring a seamless, secure, and speedy transaction directly into your bank account.

Each payment will be accompanied by a payment referencing Sell Your PC and a short description if applicable. This way, you can easily track and verify the transaction. This method also eliminates the risks associated with handling physical cash, lost pins with eWallet payments or the delays that can occur with cheques.

It's important to remember that your banking details will be handled with the highest level of confidentiality and security, and will be used solely for the purpose of completing the transaction.

We strive to make this process as effortless as possible for you, ensuring that you can receive your payment promptly and with peace of mind.

Hang on a minute...banking details? That sounds scam-like!

We hear your concerns. In this digital age, safeguarding your personal details is vital, and we appreciate your caution. However, please rest assured that our operations are entirely transparent. Our primary goal is to ensure that payments are processed efficiently and correctly. To do this, we need to confirm that all information is accurate and verified.

While our only current payment method is EFT, we're actively exploring other payment options that will make the process even simpler and more secure. Keep an eye out for future announcements about our e-Wallet, and possibly even crypto payments!

If at any point you feel uncertain or have any concerns, you're more than welcome to visit our office. Our CEO would be delighted to meet you, and could even process an instant payment while you're in his office enjoying a hot cup of coffee.

our peace of mind is our top priority. ☕🤝

Can I request an eWallet payment?

Regrettably, at the present time, we do not offer eWallet as a payment option. However, we are actively exploring this feature as we strive to improve and streamline our payment procedures for your convenience. Do keep a close eye on our website and social media channels for any updates regarding this - exciting things are on the horizon! 👀🎉

How long does it take to receive my payment once a sale is completed?

Our payment process is swift and efficient. If your account is with FNB, just like us, you should see the payment clear the same day - in many cases, almost immediately!

For those with accounts in other banks like Standard Bank, Nedbank, Investec, Discovery, and Absa, the payment clearance can take up to one working day. For Capitec account holders, payments usually clear within two working days.

Please note, these timelines depend on interbank transfer speeds, which are beyond our control. Rest assured, you will receive an emailed payment notification the moment we initiate the transfer. We're committed to ensuring you get your payment as soon as possible! 🚀🏦

Am I guaranteed to receive the payment amount stated in your offer?

Absolutely, assuming the item(s) you're selling matches the condition you initially stated and successfully passes our meticulous testing process, you'll receive the full payment.

However, if we encounter any discrepancies or detect any defects not previously mentioned, we won't leave you in the dark. We will openly communicate these findings and work together to find a mutually agreeable solution. Our ultimate aim is to ensure a positive, fair experience for you so you'll be confident in recommending us to your friends! 😉🤝💻

How long is my offer guaranteed for?

Once you've accepted our offer, it's secured for a period of five days. Remember, it's essential that your item(s) arrives at our office within this five-day window for the transaction to be completed.

We strive for efficiency and speed in all our processes. For those keen sellers out there, it's entirely feasible to wrap up the entire process within 24 hours!

Time to get selling! 🚀⏰💼

I've got an item that isn't listed - what should I do?

No problem at all! If your item isn't listed explicitly, simply drop us an email or fill in our contact form. We're open to considering any electronic equipment, so give us a shout and we'll take a look!

You might be amazed at what we're willing to purchase. We believe in giving your old or unwanted items a new lease on life, as they could be just what someone else is looking for!

So why not let us spread a little love to your unused gear? 💻🎧📸🖥️💖

I'm unsure if my item can be resold, how can I confirm?

If your item is listed on our website, there are several tests mentioned that you can carry out to ascertain whether it meets our criteria. Generally speaking, if the item is less than three years old and is in decent physical and functional condition, it should be suitable for resale. However, if you're still in doubt, or have any specific questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. We're always here to help! 👍📱💻🔍

What happens if my item doesn't align with the criteria after I've sent it to you?

Each item that arrives at our location is given a detailed visual inspection before we conduct the specific tests mentioned in our FAQ. We aim for full transparency, so we've explained our testing procedures in detail. We welcome you to perform your own tests at home and share the results with us before you ship or deliver your item. In the unlikely scenario that your item doesn't match its described condition, we'll have a conversation with you to discuss our findings, providing any supporting evidence. At this point, we can either arrange to return the item to you or propose a revised offer.

Remember, you, as the seller, always have the final say. Our goal is to ensure a smooth and satisfactory selling process for all our clients. 🤝💼🔍💻

What happens if you don't accept my item and I'm not open to a lower offer?

Our ultimate goal is to maintain transparency and customer satisfaction throughout the entire selling process. To this end, we empower our clients to conduct the same tests at home that we would in-house using the same software (refer to our testing section for more details). In fact, we encourage you to share your testing results, including any images, as part of your submission process. Once we receive your item, we'll perform identical tests and if there's a discrepancy between your data and ours (within reason), we'll initiate a dialogue with you to find a mutually acceptable solution. 🔄🔬

However, if you don't wish to accept a reduced offer for your item, you have the option to arrange a courier to retrieve it, or to collect it yourself. We want to emphasise that you are at the driver's seat of the process and all final decisions rest with you. Our aspiration is to make sure every interaction with Sell Your PC leaves our valued clients with a smile. 😊🙌💻

Am I able to sell multiple items at once?

Indeed, you most certainly can!

Our ultimate aim is to help you fuel your 'Compulsive Upgrade Disorder' (CUD) and ward off any potential 'Fear Of Missing Out' (FOMO). We're passionate about technology and keen to share our excitement with everyone in South Africa.

Remember, when it comes to selling your tech items, quantity is not an issue – in fact, the more you sell, the merrier we are.

Do you accept components shipped from international locations?

At present, we are not accepting items shipped from international locations, but it's an avenue we are exploring. Stay tuned for updates!

What tests are performed on ASIC miners?

A range of different tests are performed on ASIC miners, depending on the manufacturer. In general, ASIC miners are stress-tested where they are running for at least 4 hours to assess aspects such as their control board and hash board temperatures, fan speeds, and to check for temperature issues.

We also download the kernel log of each miner to check for diagnostic issues related to the miner. Naturally, we will also take a look at the general maintenance and upkeep which was done on the miner, its chips, and heatsinks.
